ATLANTA (AP) The leader of Georgia Perimeter College says a proposal to merge the school with Georgia State University will be presented at the next state Board of Regents meeting.
Georgia Perimeter Interim President Rob Watts said in an email to employees Monday that University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby will present a proposal to merge the schools at Tuesday's meeting in Atlanta.

The Covington News reported that Watts described the merger as "an exciting prospect" and outlined steps that will be taken in the next year if the board approves the consolidation.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the consolidation would make the new school the largest within the state's system of public colleges and universities with almost 54,000 students.
