Humane Society mixes animals and art for fundraiser

GAINESVILLE - The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) will be hosting Art with Heart, its annual benefit art auction, Saturday, February 7, from 7-10 p.m. This year marks the 6th year for this fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting HSNEGA's mission of supporting at-need animals in the community through spay/neuter/wellness services and rescue/adoption.<br /> <br /> Presented by McDonald's of Northeast Georgia, Art with Heart 2015 will take place at the Chattahoochee Country Club at 3000 Club Drive in Gainesville. The event will feature fine art, folk art, pottery, woodworking, sculpture and other types of artwork donated by renowned national and regional artists including Amanda Carder Lovett, Pat Burd, Lydia Ferguson, Janet Cornett and Jay Kemp. All artwork will be available for silent auction during the event, and many pieces will have starting bids as low as $10.<br /> <br /> "We have been so grateful for the community's generous support of Art with Heart," said HSNEGA's Executive Director Julie Edwards. <br /> <br /> "Every year, we've added new artists-we already have 100+ committed donations for 2015 and expect it to be our best year yet. It's a great way to acquire a wonderful item for your home while supporting a great cause."<br /> <br /> Art with Heart also will feature art items for sale and non-art items for auction including items such as a HSNEGA Birthday Party and a spa package. Live entertainment will be provided by Gainesville native and singer-songwriter Matthew Thomas.<br /> <br /> Tickets for the event are on sale now and are $55 per person or $100 per couple. Price includes a heavy hors d'oeuvre buffet and a complimentary wine bar sponsored by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.<br /> <br /> A limited number of tickets are available for the event; the requested RSVP date is Wednesday, February 4.
