ATLANTA (AP) Authorities say a car that sped away from a state trooper later crashed into a brick wall on the nearby Georgia Tech campus, where it burst into flames.
The driver was found dead inside the silver Honda Accord amid a pile of bricks after the wreck early Thursday morning.
The Georgia State Patrol tells CBS 46 that a trooper had stopped the Accord on the Downtown Connector around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, but it sped off as the trooper exited his patrol car.
WSB-TV reports that the trooper lost sight of the car, but Atlanta police found it less than an hour later, after it crashed outside the U.S. Naval ROTC building on the Georgia Institute of Technology's main campus.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
