PICKENS COUNTY, Ga - Two deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office were shot late Saturday night while responding to a domestic dispute call in the northwest part of the county.
According to a report from CBS46 in Atlanta, the deputies sustained non-life-threatening injuries when an unnamed man opened fire at them on Carver Mill Road near Dean Trail.
Other deputies on scene are said to have immediately returned fire, striking and killing the suspect.
The exact nature of the initial call is unknown at this time.
The report said one deputy was taken to Piedmont Montainside Hospital in Jasper; medical transport information regarding the other deputy was not provided.
CBS 46 noted that the Georgia Bureau of Investgation has been called in to lead an investigation into the matter.
