PEACHTREE CITY - The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for a number of Georgia counties, including Barrow, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Jackson.
Each warning remains in effect throughout late Monday evening and into at least Tuesday.
The warnings expire in Barrow and Jackson counties at 12:08 p.m. Tuesday, later that day in Gwinnett at 8:23 p.m., and the following day in Forsyth at 7:51 p.m.
The warnings are included below, as issue by the Weather Service:
BARROW, JACKSON:
The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Middle Oconee River near Arcade affecting Barrow and Jackson Counties Broad River near Carlton affecting Elbert...Madison and Oglethorpe Counties Oconee River near Penfield affecting Clarke...Greene and Oconee Counties The Flood Warning continues for The Middle Oconee River near Arcade. * From tonight until Tuesday afternoon. * At 7 PM Monday the stage was 14.1 feet...and rising. * Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 16 feet. * Forecast to rise above flood stage to near 16.6 feet by early Tuesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage by late Tuesday morning. * At 16 feet...Flood Stage is reached. Minor flooding begins in the woodlands...fields and pasture upstream and downstream from the gage at Georgia Highway 82. A few dirt access roads will be flooded. A residential yard just downstream will begin to flood.
FORSYTH:
The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Big Creek near Cumming affecting Forsyth County Big Creek near Alpharetta affecting Forsyth and Fulton Counties Flint River near Lovejoy affecting Clayton...Fayette and Spalding Counties The Flood Warning continues for The Big Creek near Alpharetta. * Until Wednesday evening. * At 7 PM Monday the stage was 9.2 feet...and slowly rising. * Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 7 feet. * The river will continue rising to near 9.6 feet by early afternoon Tuesday. The river will fall below flood stage early afternoon Wednesday. * At 10 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia are under a foot of water. The Big Creek Greenway experiences significant flooding up to 4 feet deep with closure of the paths. This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Hill Park. A large portion of the YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a two feet of water.
GWINNETT:
The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Suwanee Creek near Suwanee affecting Gwinnett County The Flood Warning continues for The Suwanee Creek near Suwanee. * Until Tuesday evening. * At 7 PM Monday the stage was 10.1 feet...and rising. * Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 8 feet. * The river will continue rising to near 10.8 feet by early Tuesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday afternoon. * At 10 feet...Minor flooding expands further into the flood plain from Suwanee Creek Park through Martin Farm Park to George Pierce Park. The Suwanee Creek Greenway and trails are completely flooded with the water approaching the Swift Atlanta Company parking lot. Suwanee Creek Road begins to flood in low areas near Bennett Creek Bridge. In addition...yards begin to flood off Bend Creek Trail and Mill Creek Run. Portions of the playground behind the Suwanee Elementary School will be flooded.
