JACKSON, Ga. (AP) A 2-year-old boy has died after authorities say he was shot in the face at a home in Jackson.
Jackson Police Chief James Morgan tells media outlets the incident happened Wednesday night. Morgan says the shooting appears accidental, but it's still unclear exactly what happened.
Morgan says the child and his twin brother were in a room together when the gun went off.
Police say the boys' mother was in the kitchen area at the time. It is believed they were the only three people in the house at the time the shooting occurred.
Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call around 6 p.m. Morgan says the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Morgan says no one has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
