GAINESVILLE — Veterans Day was on Wednesday, but that didn't stop World War II veteran Cecil Boswell of Gainesville from celebrating on Friday with students at Myers Elementary School.

The 98-year-old Boswell donned his uniform and spent most of the day visiting with 5th graders at the school on Candler Road.

Teachers said the students had been studying World War II, so having Boswell share his experiences brought their lessons to life. He received hand-made letters and notes from the students and even had lunch with one of the classes.

All photos submitted to AccessWDUN.
