LAWRENCEVILLE — A murder suspect who prompted the lockdown of Georgia Gwinnett College Monday has turned himself in to police, according to published reports.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Sheldon Soyer, 43, surrendered to Lawrenceville police Tuesday morning. He is now awaiting transport to the Gwinnett County Jail.
Soyer reportedly shot and killed his 47-year-old wife Vanessa Soyer Monday morning; their teenage son was a witness to the murder, according to Atlanta TV reports.
After the shooting, Soyer reportedly fled the family apartment and was thought to have run onto the college campus. Even after buildings were cleared by police, the college remained closed and residential students were ordered to stay in their dorms.
