GAINESVILLE - One person has been arrested and nearly $50,000 worth of drugs seized following a raid in Hall County on Wednesday.

According to a media release from Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (MANS) Lt. Scott Ware, MANS agents executed a search warrant Wednesday at the AMAL convenience store on Athens Street in Gainesville.

Ware said that as agents entered the building, they witnessed an employee, identified as 29-year-old Ubah M. Ali Carswell of Gainesville, attempting to destroy a quantity of synthetic marijuana that was in her possession.

Carswell was placed under arrest, and agents continued their search of the premises.

Agents would eventually discover and seize roughly 2.5 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana from behind the store counter and the victim's SUV, as well as approximately 5 grams of crack cocaine, nearly an ounce of marijuana, and scales and packaging materials.

Ware said Carswell was later booked into the Hall County Jail on charges of Possession of Synthetic Canabinoids (Marijuana) with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute.

The total street value of the drugs has been estimated to be in excess of $46,000.

Officers from the Gainesville Police Department assisted in the investigation.
