SUWANEE - Suwanee police have charged a man with arson after they found him at the scene of a fire at a family cemetery on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road Thursday night.

Suwanee Police Capt. Cass Mooney identified the suspect as Kenneth Brown.

Mooney told Fox 5 News that authorities are unsure what connection - if any - Brown has to the Lockwood Family Cemetery. The cemetery dates back to the early 1800's, and recently has been overgrown and not kept up, according to Mooney.

The incident happened late Thursday night; a passerby saw the fire at the cemetery and alerted a patrol officer in the area.

According to Gwinnett County jail records, Brown remains behind bars on a $6,800 bond. Those records also indicate Brown has a Savannah address, even though authorities say he is from Dahlonega.
