ATLANTA (AP) State officials said Tuesday Georgia collected $1.43 billion in net taxes during the month of March.

That's a 9 percent increase from the same month in 2014.

Gov. Nathan Deal said in a statement the increases largely came from individual income tax, sales and use tax, corporate income tax and motor fuel tax.

Deal said the state has collected $13.85 billion since the fiscal year began July 1. That's a 6.1 percent increase from the same time period in fiscal year 2014. Before making payments to local governments, the state collected $19.2 billion.
