GAINESVILLE - A Hall County grand jury has indicted a Gainesville man on charges of aggravated sodomy, sexual battery and practicing medicine without a license.
Gainesville police issued a press release Thursday night, saying they responded to a call at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on March 26 from a victim claiming to have been sexually assaulted by a man who had hired the victim to move furniture for him. The alleged assault had taken place that same day.
Police said the suspect, Jamieson L. Allen, age 48, had represented himself to the victim, a 19-year-old black male, as a doctor conducting medical work. When Allen and the victim arrived at the Gainesville residence where the furniture was supposed to be located, Allen allegedly assaulted the victim.
A police report indicates Allen lived at the residence where the alleged assault took place.
Investigators presented evidence to the grand jury and Allen was charged in the apparent assault.
Police said Allen was arrested on April 27 and remained in the Hall County Jail until he posted a $50,000 bond on May 6.
