TOCCOA — Two people face charges after authorities say a fight sent someone to the hospital.
It happened May 6 on Rumsey Road.
Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said Tuesday his office responded to a call of a woman who was bleeding and unresponsive.
"Two individuals, a boyfriend and girlfriend, had come to the residence regarding some argument during the afternoon on social media," said Shirley. "A scuffle ensued on the front porch and they ended up pushing [the victim] through the plate glass window. Her arm was almost severed."
Shirley said EMS began administering medical aid to the woman, who then regained consciousness and identified the two people who allegedly assaulted her.
He said the victim was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital and is recovering from the injury.
Meanwhile, the sheriff said 29-year-old Samuel Etheridge Brown and 30-year-old Leann Nicole Simpson, both of Toccoa, were both arrested and charged with aggravated battery.
Shirley said both Brown and Simpson are being held at the Stephens County Jail with no bond set at this time.
Shirley said this was a case where deputies and paramedics arrived just in time, adding that if it had taken any longer, the victim might not have survived due to the severity of the injury.
