ATLANTA (AP) Georgia public safety officials say they're planning to participate in several traffic safety campaigns during the Memorial Day travel period.

Governor's Office of Highway Safety officials say their ``Click it or Ticket'' program will be paired with an initiative run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That program, titled ``Border to Border' focuses on cracking down on seatbelt violations in cities along the east coast.

Public safety officials will host events Monday to raise awareness of the campaigns in Atlanta, Savannah and Valdosta.

Department of Public Safety Commissioner Col. Mark McDonough says Georgia saw a roughly 25 percent increase in fatal crashes in the first quarter of 2015 from the same time period last year. McDonough says 62 percent of victims weren't wearing seatbelts.
