ATLANTA (AP) Georgia has 75 new U.S. citizens after naturalization ceremonies in Gwinnett and Hall counties.

Federal officials administered an allegiance oath Saturday to 21 foreign-born residents of Gwinnett County who became U.S. citizens.

The naturalization ceremony happened during a multicultural festival sponsored by Pan Asian Community Services and local authorities.

Separately, 54 people from more than 30 counties became naturalized U.S. citizens during a ceremony in Gainesville on Friday.

To qualify for naturalization, candidates must be legal permanent U.S. residents and pass tests in English, history and civics.

Federal officials granted naturalized citizenship to more than 17,000 people in Georgia during 2014.
