GAINESVILLE — Mickey Hyder, a longtime local banker and mortgage specialist, has joined Peach State Bank’s loan division as senior loan officer.
In his new position, Hyder will focus on home mortgage lending. With his expertise in reverse mortgages, he will oversee Peach State’s offering of a new home equity conversion mortgage program for senior homeowners that is federally insured.
“With the local housing market coming back strong, the timing is perfect to bring Mickey Hyder on board to strengthen our mortgage lending,” said Ron Quinn, Peach State’s president and CEO. “We are particularly excited to share his expertise with our senior customers as part of our new reverse-mortgage program.”
Hyder, 67, of Clermont is a Gainesville native and graduate of East Hall High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from North Georgia College in 1974. From 1970 to 1972, he served in the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge.
A veteran banker, Hyder served as executive vice president at First Federal Savings & Loan in Gainesville and later in the same position at Georgia First Bank (now BB&T) early in his banking career.
