OAKWOOD - A brief car chase in Hall County Wednesday evening ended with the arrests of two suspects as they abandoned their vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

According to Deputy Nicole Bailes with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the intial call that led to the chase came from a deputy who was working traffic detail at Blackshear Place Baptist Church. The deputy was apparently notified by a passerby that their vehicle had been stolen.

A short time later, a patrol deputy traveling along Atlanta Highway located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle failed to yield to the deputy and the chase was initiated.

Bailes said the deputy pursued the vehicle to the area of Titshaw Drive and Sailors Road, where both the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle attempted to escape on foot.

Following a short pursuit, the two were apprehended and placed under arrest. Bailes noted that both individuals, who have not been identified at this time, were the subjects of active outstanding arrest warrants.

No other details have been released and the investigation is ongoing.
