GAINESVILLE - Earlier this month, the Wrigley Company announced plans to hire 150 new employees for its facility in Flowery Branch.

Starting on Wednesday, May 27, the company will begin taking applications for some of those positions.

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) said it will assist Wrigley with the recruitment effort, taking applications for control and maintenance technicians and machine operators.
The recruitment will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 27 at the GDOL Gainesville Career Center at 2756 Atlanta Highway.

Wrigley said applicants need to be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED to apply. In addition, applicants should have two years of experience.

Applicants unable to make it to Wednesday job fair may apply online via the Wrigley company web site www.wrigley.com or via the GDOL web site www.gdol.ga.gov.

Caroline Sherman, a spokeswoman for the Wrigley Company in Chicago, said this effort will be the first wave of hires for the Hall County plant. She also confirmed there will be some expansion for the facility, as well, although there was no time line in place.

Five years ago, the chewing gum manufacturer laid off hundreds of workers at Wrigley's Flowery Branch plant during the economic downturn.
