ATLANTA (AP) A new position at the Georgia Department of Education will focus on fine arts, including music, dance, theatre and visual arts.
State Superintendent Richard Woods says Jessica Booth will fill the department's new ``fine arts specialist'' position. She worked as director of fine arts for the Atlanta Public Schools district for two years.
Booth will provide support for school districts' fine arts staff throughout the state.
Woods says education is more than traditional subjects. He says fine arts will keep more students in school through graduation.
