GAINESVILLE - A 17-year-old boy has died from injuries suffered during a bicycle crash Monday in Gainesville
According to Sgt. Anthony Coleman of the Georgia State Patrol, 17-year-old Nanya Williams of Gainesville died just after 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Williams was hospitalized after stiking a car while riding his bicycle down a steep hill Monday evening.
Coleman said Williams did not stop at a stop sign at the bottom of the hill at the intersection of Wildwood Drive and Wildwood Lane. He hit the driver side of a BMW and was thrown onto the windshield of the car before falling on the road. The 16-year-old driver of the car was cited for driving alone with a learner's permit, but Coleman said she will not be charged as the at-fault driver because Williams did not stop at the stop sign. The driver was also transported to the hospital but was released.
Coleman said Williams was not wearing a helmet.
