ATLANTA (AP) Large parts of Georgia will be under a heat advisory as temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 90s in some areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Monday that covers most of central Georgia and includes the Macon, Columbus, LaGrange, Americus and Vidalia areas.
Some of the state's hottest weather could be in Middle Georgia, where highs in the Macon area are expected to be around 98 degrees.
Highs in the Columbus and Americus areas on Monday are expected to be around 97. Forecasters expected highs near 96 in the Dublin and Vidalia areas.
In metro Atlanta, forecasters are projecting high temperatures in the mid-90s.
Also, the Clean Air Campaign is warning that most of metro Atlanta and some north Georgia counties will be under a smog alert Monday because of the high ozone levels in the air. A Code Orange Alert means the air will be unsafe to breathe for those with respiratory problems.
