CLEVELAND - Numerous law enforcement agencies are working to help locate a White County detainee who walked away from a work detail at the White County Courthouse Monday afternoon.

White County Sheriff Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said 37-year-old Christopher Roy Helton of Clermont was a nonviolent offender on a work detail along with two other inmates when he fled around noon.

Ingram said Helton discarded his inmate jumpsuit and fled the area.

Helton is described as a white male with brown eyes and shaved head.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the White County Sheriff’s Office or 9-1-1.
