GAINESVILLE - Brenau University officials say the new replacement sorority houses will be ready when students return to the Gainesville campus later this month.

Four houses are new - Alpha Chi Omega, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu.  Three houses were demolished, but the old Phi Mu house is being used for storage right now. Construction began last year.

A new residence hall, which is under construction but won't be ready for occupancy until next spring, will accommodate 40 students.

Classes resume at Brenau August 24.  Move-in day is August 18 for all students.

Meanwhile, other colleges and universities in northeast Georgia are also making plans for the start of a new school year - and there'll also be a new place for students to live at Piedmont College in Demorest.

Piedmont - which will open its new Village at Piedmont this fall - will be first out of the gate, with classes beginning there Thursday, Aug. 13.  Village at Piedmont is a new residence hall consisting of 12 apartment-style buildings that can accommodate 180 students.
