JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (AP) Johns Creek and Gwinnett County fire crews were able to rescue two people, who had become stranded on a rock in the middle of the Chattahoochee River when water began rising around them.
Gwinnett County fire officials say the rescue happened around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday near Jones Bridge Park. They say that Gwinnett firefighters guided a Johns Creek rescue boat to the people, who were then brought back to shore.
Authorities say the two people, identified only as adults, were checked out by paramedics as a precaution and appeared to be fine.
