LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo has agreed to a misdemeanor plea of cruelty to an animal in an incident at a Buford apartment complex in April.
Shembo was arrested in May for killing his girlfriend's dog at the Century at Mill Creek apartment complex. The incident occurred on April 15, according to Gwinnett County police reports, but Shembo was not arrested until after authorities contacted the football team, and Shembo turned himself in.
Shembo also agreed in court to a fine with the dismissal of the felony charge of cruelty to an animal.
The Falcons cut Shembo shortly after he was arrested in the death of the Yorkie.
