GAINESVILLE - Hall County authorities said a Macon man was extradited back to Hall County Tuesday to face charges of aggravated child molestation, electronic enticement of a child and obscene internet contact with a child.
The charges stem from an August 9 undercover internet operation with Hall County investigators posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes.
Investigators allege that John Allen Fortney, 28, of Macon communicated with investigators via social media and provided lewd images of himself. Fortney arranged to meet authorities posing as the 14-year-old on August 11.
According to Bailes, Fortney didn't show up in Hall County, leading investigators to obtain warrants for the charges outlined above.
Twiggs County authorities made the arrest that included some seizures.

"It was just luck on our part, because we had information that he was residing in Bibb County, so we had made steps to reach out to Bibb County to try to locate him, and we received calls from Twiggs County that they had stopped him," Bailes said.
"We seized his electronic devices with the anticipation that further evidence will be located on those, Bailes added.
Hall County authorities were continuing the investigation. Bailes said further charges are pending.
