DAWSONVILLE - A captain with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office has launched a campaign for the sheriff's post.

Capt. Tony Wooten has set up a Facebook page announcing his run for the office, which will be vacated by Sheriff Billy Carlisle at the end of his term.

Wooten has served in a number of capacities in the sheriff's office during his 17-year-career.

Jeff Perry, a parole officer and 26-year law enforcement veteran, announced his intent to run for sheriff in April.
