WINDER — Barrow County fire investigators said a faulty heat was the cause of a fire that did heavy damage to a home in the 700 block of Jefferson Highway Thursday morning.
Barrow County Emergency Services received a call at 9:52 a.m., according to Fire Department Lt. Scott Dakin.
"Firefighters responded to this incident and found heavy smoke and fire conditions upon arrival,” said Dakin. “Crews make an aggressive interior attack on the fire to bring it under control.”
Dakin said Engine 6, Engine 1, Engine 7, Ladder Truck 7, Med 6, Med 1 and Battalion 1 responded to the fire, and found heavy smoke coming from the front of the home and heavy fire in the rear of the home. Crews found fire in several rooms and the attic of the home, as well. Dakin said firefighters brought fire under control quickly, but the home suffered heavy damage.
