CANTON, Ga. (AP) Police say a mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after a 9-year-old girl was found locked inside the closet of her family's apartment.
Local news media reported Friday that the child's mother Amy Lynn Davis and Charles Adam Ellison were charged with cruelty to children and false imprisonment.
Canton Police officer Pacer Cordry says the child was found in a closet/laundry room with a folded up walker propped against the door while the 35-year-old David and 34-year-olld Ellison were at a court proceeding.
Police say the child and her 17-year-old sibling, who was not in the apartment at the time, were placed in Division of Family and Children Services.
Davis and Ellison are being held without bond at the Cherokee County jail. It's not clear whether they have an attorney.
