GAINESVILLE —The Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) is joining the Grace Episcopal Church of Gainesville for the church’s annual Blessing of Animals event on Sunday, October 4 at 4 p.m.

“The Blessing of Animals is our way of celebrating not just the life of St. Francis, but also our reverence for God’s creation, and our calling to care for the environment,” said Reverend Stuart Higginbotham, Rector of Grace Church. “St. Francis’ love of animals reflects his awareness that all creatures are blessed and loved by God.”

The church will hold the service in the parking lot and St. Francis garden at the corner of Brenau Avenue and Boulevard on the Grace Episcopal campus in Gainesville.

Pets or domestic animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome - with their owners - to participate in the Blessing of Animals service. Appropriate restraint should be provided for all animals and owners are responsible for pet waste.

Donations are appreciated by the Humane Society. In addition to monetary donations, HSNEGA accepts items on its “Wish List.” To see HSNEGA’s Wish List, visit www.HSNEGA.org.

For additional information regarding the event, please call HSNEGA at 770-532-6617 or Grace Episcopal at 770-536-0126.
