JEFFERSON — Jefferson football rolled to its fifth straight win and maintained its spotless record in region play on Friday night courtesy a 24-0 win over St. Pius X in Jefferson.
The Dragons (7-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAAA) pushed their way to a 17-0 first half lead behind touchown runs from Colby Clark -- 10 and 5 yards -- and a 23-yard field goal from Hayden Kilgore.
Colby Wood added a 1-yard scoring run in the second half.
Wood paced the Dragons with 80 yards on 19 carries, while Clarke added 77 yards on 14 carries. Zack Boobas also rushed for 30 yards on eight carries.
St. Pius crossed midfield just once and never progressed inside the Jefferson 35-yard line.
Next week will bring the first of two huge 8-AAAA contests to close out the regular season, however. As Stephens County -- also 3-0 in 8-AAAA -- travels to Memorial Stadium. The Dragons then travel to Oconee County on Nov. 4.
