GAINESVILLE - No one was seriously injured when a fire broke out inside a Gainesville residence early Tuesday evening.

Hall County fire crews were called to Belair Circle just off Floyd Road around 5:10 p.m., according to Hall County Fire Cpt. Zachary Brackett.

"Initial units found smoke coming from the residence, a 1,000-square-foot structure, and located the fire in the area of the kitchen," Brackett said. He noted that firefighters were able to extinguish those flames quickly.

Brackett said there was one occupant inside the home at the time of the fire, and the unidentifed individual was taken from the scene to Northeast Georgia Medical Center to receive treatment for smoke inhalation.

Although the exact cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation, Brackett said an estimate already has been made regarding the extent of the property damage caused by the fire.

"The cause is still undetermined at this time," Brackett said. "Our investigators were on the scene, and they'll be back to complete the cause and origin determination. Initial estimates are roughly $10,000 worth of damage; the home was valued at approximately $110,000."

No other details have been released at this time.
