STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) School officials near Atlanta are trying to reassure parents their students will be safe at prom, since the big dance is planned at the same park and on the same day as a planned a ``pro-white'' rally and possible counter-protest.

Gwinnett County schools spokesman Bernard Watson tells WSB-TV (2wsb.tv/1QJI3je) the rally should be over two hours before the Peachtree Ridge High School prom begins April 23 and will be on the opposite end of Stone Mountain Park.

Watson says school officials have been in ``constant contact'' with police.

The school's principal sent a letter home to parents, saying they don't anticipate any issues.

WSB reports that a pro-white group known as ``Rock Stone Mountain'' has a permit for the rally. The station reports that a group known as ``All Out Atlanta'' is encouraging a counter-demonstration but doesn't have a permit.
