EAST POINT, Ga. (AP) Authorities say three people are unaccounted for after an early-morning fire swept through a house in the Atlanta suburb of East Point.
Interim Fire Chief William Ware told reporters at the scene that five people were inside the home at the time. He said two of them were able to escape, adding that it's possible that the three others didn't get out.
East Point fire spokeswoman Renita Shelton said in a statement that crews responded to the blaze around 12:13 a.m. Tuesday. Officials said firefighters arrived about five minutes later and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front and side of the single-story house.
East Point is about six miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.
