Attorney Jody Cooley, a partner in the law firm of Hulsey, Oliver, and Mahar, LLP in Gainesville has withdrawn from the firm to join the legal department at Wayne Farms LLC.

A press statement from the law firm, which has provided legal services to Northeast Georgia clients for more than 100 years, said the firm has represented Wayne Farms for over 50 years and Cooley had worked closely with the poultry giant on a variety of legal matters during some of that time. Wayne Farms, with corporate headquarters in Hall County, is the 6th largest vertically integrated poultry company in the United States. The company has 9,000 employees working across 11 plants in five southeastern states.

Wayne Farms Assistant Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Jeremy Kilburn said Cooley's experience working with the poultry company made him an attractive candidate for the role of Associate General Counsel.

“Jody’s knowledge of our business and his familiarity with the people here at Wayne Farms made him a great fit for our legal department and our organization as a whole.  His experience with the Hulsey firm will prove invaluable to us,”  Kilburn said.

Tom Calkins, Senior Managing Partner at the Hulsey firm said Cooley will be missed.

"We certainly value our relationship with Wayne Farms as a client and we expect this move to only strengthen that long standing relationship," Calkins said.

Cooley will start in his new position in the coming month, according to the press release.
