For the second straight weekend in a row, Kyle Busch broke out the broom and swept both NASCAR events.
Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway, Busch powered around the most dominant car of the race, Martin Truex, Jr., and led the final 33 laps to score his second straight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, and his fourth straight NASCAR National Touring Series race.
Busch took advantage when Truex's team chose to stay out on old tires. He rocketed to the lead while Truex fell back, and went on to pick up his 36th career series victory and his second at Texas.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finished in second, with Joey Logano in third and Jimmie Johnson in fourth.
Afterwards, Busch talked about his race and about his current win streak. We also heard from Earnhardt, Jr. about his second place run.
It looked like it was going to be a rough outing for Dawsonville's Chase Elliott. Elliott was fourth fastest in qualifying, but then had to drop to the rear of the field after having transmission issues.
But Elliott stayed out of trouble, worked his way solidly through the field and when the checkered flag flew, he had scored his career best Sprint Cup Series finish with a fifth place result. Afterwards, Elliott spoke wit the media about his night.
The NASCAR tour now heads for the high banked, high speed half mile that is Bristol Motor Speedway. WDUN will have live PRN Radio coverage of the entire weekend, beginning with Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at noon on 102.9 FM.
