A lawyer for a Gwinnett County teacher charged with molesting two former students says his client is not guilty.
Michael Appelbaum waived a court appearance Thursday morning, according to a report in the Gwinnett Daily Post. His attorney told the newspaper the former teacher at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology in Lawrenceville has "no idea" why he's being charged with sexual abuse and child molestation.
The 40-year-old Appelbaum is accused of having a sexual relationship with one student during the 2011-2012 school year and touching another student on the buttocks in 2013.
Appelbaum was charged after one of the girls came forward last month.
The former teacher's attorney said he is filing paperwork to obtain bond for his client.
