An 81-year-old man was the victim in a golf cart accident over the weekend at Achasta Golf Community south of Dahlonega.
The Georgia State Patrol investigated the Saturday afternoon accident and said James Peyton Hansard of Dahlonega died at the scene.
Investigating troopers from Post 37 in Cumming said they were called around 5 p.m. to Golden Bear Pass on the golf course. They said the victim was driving the golf cart down a steep hill and was attempting to negotiate a curve to the left at the bottom of the hill when he lost control of the vehicle. It traveled onto the shoulder of the road and overturned.
Investigators said there were three other adult passengers on the vehicle. All were taken to local hospitals for treatment, but investigators did not have further information on their conditions as of Sunday night.
If you have any questions concerning this crash, feel free to e-mail me back. I might have access to some more information later this evening when the investigating Trooper comes back to work.
