Two house fires in Dawson County happened about the same time Tuesday morning, making for a busy morning for firefighters from both Dawson County and Forsyth County.
A fire broke out around 4 a.m. at a 3,500-square-foot home in the 1300 block of Harmony Church Road, according to Dawson County EMS Chief Lanier Swafford. He said the home was about 70-percent involved in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene.
"Just outside the residence, there was a large camper trailer and an outbuilding," Swafford said. "We were able to salvage both of those without damage."
He said investigators were unsure why the house caught fire.
Meanwhile, Swafford said about the same time an 1,800-square-foot home on Highway 9 South south of Dawsonville was damaged by fire. He said that fire was contained to one room, but there was smoke damage to other parts of the home. Swafford said investigators were able to determine an unattended candle sparked that fire.
No one was injured in either incident.
While both fires happened in Dawson County, Forsyth County's Fire Department assisted with mutual aid.
