Gainesville man faces drug and weapons charges after fleeing from officers

A Gainesville man is facing a long list of charges after he jumped from a moving car as he tried to escape from officers during an arrest attempt last week.
 
The Hall County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies with the Hall County Sheriffs Office Crime Suppression Unit attempted to arrest Cody Allen Lanphear, 23, on June 23 on Harris Road near Lula for driving while his driver’s license had been suspended.
 
Lanphear reportedly jumped from his vehicle, leaving behind passengers in the moving vehicle.

Officers searched Lanphear's vehicle and found two semi-automatic handguns - a 9 mm and a 32 - as well as a quantity of methamphetamine, scales and packaging materials.

Lanphear was arrested Tuesday, June 28 and charged with reckless conduct, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, driving while license is suspended or revoked, obstruction, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Arrest warrants were obtained and Lanphear was arrested on June 28, 2016, without further incident and booked in at the Hall County Jail.
