A divided Georgia Supreme Court has thrown out the conviction and sentence given in a Fulton County murder case with Forsyth County connections.
Michael Lejeune pleaded guilty ten years ago to the drug-related murder of Ronnie Davis and was sentenced to life without parole. Lejeune dismembered Davis' body and left parts of it in a Forsyth County cemetery and Lake Lanier.
In appealing his sentence, Lejeune argued that his guilty plea was not done "knowingly" and "voluntarily."
And, in a ruling last week, the state's highest court, in a 4-3 split decision, agreed - overturning both his conviction and life-without-parole sentence.
