A man accused of opening fire at the Gainesville State Patrol post on Cleveland Highway in June 2015 pleaded guilty to the crime and has been sentenced to jail time and probation.

Court documents show Hall County Superior Court Judge Jason Deal on Thursday sentenced Leighton Beaux Marchetta to 25 years for the crime - three to serve in confinement and the rest of the time on probation. Marchetta entered a guilty plea to two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He also was fined $2,550.

In addition, the judge ordered Marchetta to be evaluated and treated for PTSD and to have no contact with the two troopers involved in the incident.

Neither trooper was injured when Marchetta fired off two rounds at the post parking lot on June 8, 2015. One trooper stopped Marchetta by shooting him in the shoulder.
