There's a date, but not a time or a place yet for a retreat for the Gainesville City School Board to discuss ongoing concerns about a new Enota Elementary School building.

The board met in a work session Monday night and confirmed Saturday, August 13 as the retreat date. Superintendent Wanda Creel mentioned that the board had tried to secure the Gainesville Civic Center for a meeting place, but it is unavailable, so the search is on for an adequate meeting space.

Board members agreed at a meeting last month to have more discussion about plans for the new school building after community members raised a number of concerns about the plan. At the center of the concerns is the removal of the Smartville Education Garden on the Enota property, a garden that has been in place for the last eight years.
