VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) The Georgia State Patrol says one person has died and several others have been taken to a hospital with injuries after a crash involving a school bus on Interstate 75 in Valdosta.
The bus was transporting Lowndes County high school students when it collided Monday afternoon with a tractor-trailer on I-75. No details were immediately available about the person who was killed.
Cpl. Chris Kelch of the Georgia State Patrol told the Valdosta Daily Times (http://bit.ly/2bEn96S ) an estimated 13 students aboard the school bus suffered injuries and were taken to South Georgia Medical Center.
The crash blocked all lanes of southbound I-75 for about two hours Monday.
The State Patrol and the Lowndes County school system did not immediately return phone and email messages Monday evening from The Associated Press.
