A teenager from Hayesville, North Carolina, faces a staggering number of charges after being arrested in Towns County earlier this month as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Steven Douglas Anderson, 19, was charged with at least twenty-two violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act after multiple search warrants were executed inside his residence on January 11.

Towns County Sheriff Chris Clinton said in a press release Thursday that deputies searching the residence, the location of which was not disclosed, seized a large amount of various illegal drugs, "a quantity of firearms, cash and a Mercedes-Benz automobile."

Among the drugs seized were quantities of heroin, marijuana, ecstasy, mushrooms, Xanax, Oxycodone and Hydromorphone. Sheriff Clinton said the drugs had an estimated street value of $80,352.

Anderson's residence also contained a locked safe, which Sheriff Clinton said was opened with the assistance of the county fire department.

"During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for Anderson’s safe that had been originally alerted on by Towns County Sheriff’s K-9 Hunter," he explained. "Towns County Sheriff’s Deputies requested assistance from Towns County Fire Department in opening the safe utilizing equipment for vehicle extraction."

"We would like to thank the fire department for their help in 'cracking the safe.'"
