A member of the Hall County Elections Board has been charged with misdemeanor shoplifting, according to an incident report from the Gainesville Police Department.
The report indicates Thomas Charles Sandoval was arrested on February 3 for a January 29 shoplifting incident at Walmart on Shallowford Road. Sandoval allegedly stole two pair of boxer briefs - the items were valued at $30, according to the report.
Sandoval said in an email he has been wrongly accused of shoplifting.
"When I heard about the charge, I voluntarily turned myself in and was quickly released," Sandoval wrote. "I look forward to clearing my name."
