The Walmart off Georgia 400 in Dawson County was evacuated for more than three hours Sunday night after an apparent threat to the store.

Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson did not give details on the nature of the threat, but confirmed the store was evacuated just after 6:20 p.m. The store re-opened around 9:30 p.m. after no evidence of a threat was found.

A post on the Dawson County Sheriff's Office Facebook page said other law enforcement agencies assisted with the operation.

Both the Cherokee and Forsyth County Sheriff's offices offered mutual aid assistance with the use of  explosive detection K9s and handlers.
