After a Ku Klux Klan banner was removed from a privately owned building on the Dahlonega Square Thursday for violating the city's sign code, a permit for a sign was requested for the same building Friday.

Mayor Gary McCullough confirmed the owner, Roberta Green, picked up an application through her manager, Barbara Bridges, for a sign.

McCullough said that was all the information they had.

The sign, hung along the roof line of the empty storefront, depicted a hooded Klansman with the words "Historic Ku Klux Klan Meeting Hall." Two flags - a St. Croix cross and a Confederate battle flag - were placed on either side of the sign.

More details about the incident Thursday can be found here.
