The man accused of strangling to death a woman and her 2-year-old son at a Buford home on Easter Sunday had his first court appearance Tuesday and had to be removed from the courtroom when he refused a judge's instructions to stop talking about the case.

Brandon Williams, 32, told the judge he didn't understand why he was being charged and continually interrupted the court proceedings, according to a televised report on 11 Alive News.

At one point, Williams told the judge "I plead the Fifth to everything."

Williams faces two counts each of malice murder and aggravated assault in the strangulation deaths of Natalie Nation, 30, and her toddler son Cole. Nation was renting a room at a house that belongs to Williams' father on Tybee Drive in Buford.

Gwinnett County police were called to the scene of the deadly incident Sunday around 11 p.m.
