The City of Cleveland has issued a boil water notice due to a water main break at Highway 129 South, south of Tommy Cowart Road.

"Tommy Cowart Road is only used as a reference point and is not included in the notice. The water [main] break was reported early this morning and Cleveland Public Works employees finished the repair just before 6 a.m.," said Andrea Smith, Water Distribution Operator for the City of Cleveland Public Works.

The notice affects the City of Cleveland water customers located in the southwest service area south of Tommy Cowart Road, Hwy. 129 South to Westmoreland Road.

The notice is required by EPD when water pressure drops below 20 PSI (pounds per square inch).  The boiled water is for drinking purposes or customers can use bottled water until bacteriological samples can be collected and tested.  Water needs to be boiled until the city lifts the notice, according to Smith.

The city will notify the media as soon as test results are received.
